You gotta be F%*cking kiding me

Post by Odoyle »

Its always got to be something, had the trunk lock apart because I'm getting the 2000 plate re-chromed. Battery was disconnected for some reason. Go to try and move the 83 today and realize the trunk is latched closed.... Can't use the handy button in the center console to pop trunk...because the battery is disconnected. Thinking my only option is to take apart center console and connect 12V to the trunk switch with a battery and some alligator clips. Should have just tied a string to the actuating arm when I had a chance. Any suggestion on how to proceed?

I think you can clip onto the alternator output post with the + 12 volt and the cars chassis anywhere with the - 12 volt lead of a set of jumper cables and use another battery to open your trunk

I'm hoping you only removed the negative cable from the battery. If the positive cable is removed and there is a chance it is touching any metal in the trunk I would not try jumping it from the alternator unless you have an inline fuse something like 8-10 amps in series with the jumper leads.
