Need help ran out of gas put gas in and now won't start

I tried looking but couldn't find anything about this

I have a Marshall 4point ignition coil I believe that's what went out everything's got power to that but I have no spark going the the spark plugs

What I really need to know is we're can I get one local
Or what car would have something that's compatible
And what is the firing order for the 2liter motor

I have a 1969 124 spider

I really need it today to if possible

Firing order is 1-3-4-2. I would think points would be much more likely a failure than a coil. But, an ACDELCO E501A coil shows as the proper one for your year Spider

Where would the points be ? Also that's not the right one and my motor is the original motor they had in a 69 .

your car has a computronix lgnition (no points, no dizzy, no traditional coil) . If you ran out of gas and now have no spark, then you have 2 separate problems. My first thought is running out of gas can suck all the crap out of the bottom of the gastank and send it into your carb. Give the carb a clean or replace your fuel filter.

My apologies, you have a modified ignition system. Take my suggestions except for firing order and throw them out. I agree on the trash in the fuel theory though.

.... and don't test for spark by holding a plug to the ground. In general it's not an overly sane idea (IMHO), but with the Computronix ignition there's a heck of a powerful spark and you could easily do yourself a lot of harm! Get an inline spark tester.

+1 on the blocked carb idea. Carefully clean out the carb, paying attention to the jets, with - well - carb cleaner. Taking photos as you go is sensible, and you may want to grab an exploded diagram for your carb from (http://www.artigue.com/fiat/) if you can.

Thank you I appreciate the help I cleaned the carb and changed the fuel filter but still nothing I went to my local fiat shop and the tested my ignition system and it passed so I really don't know what's going on now I decided to retire my fiat I'm going to swap my motor to a SR20det
Or any suggestions?

Did they test the system in the car, or did you remove it? If you have spark, then there's only two probable issues remaining: is the spark at the correct moment, and is there fuel? If you have a timing light, you can check for proper ignition timing. If not, let's "assume" the distributor is in the same position as when the motor was running. I would then attempt to start the car using ether.

That is some coincidence to have the ignition fail because you ran out of gas. Did you crank it to death trying to start it after you ran out of gas? Note that on some high end ignition systems if you short out a spark plug lead checking for spark you burn out components.

What was the result us using starting fluid before tearing the carb apart? If it starts cranking faster when you use starting fluid then you are getting some spark and mostly have a fuel starvation issue. On a vehicle that has been run out of gas I will generally give it a shot of starting fluid or prime the intake with an eyedropper or two of gasoline so I won't be cranking for extended periods of time priming the system.

On the mechanical diesel injector system if I run out of fuel I need to open the primer port on the fuel filter and run the lift pump until the filter fills up with diesel or fill it manually before I can attempt to start it so I have been extremely careful to avoid running out since its really not something one wants to deal with on the side of the road. Diesel starters are about 2 kilowatts and can burn out rather easily from excessive cranking along with be crazy expensive to replace so one tends to use an abundance of caution as regards running out of fuel.

+1 to being skeptical about coincidences. Are you sure that you ran out of gas when it died? If so, then the source of the issue is still likely in the fuel system. If you're confident that your fuel filter is good and that the carb isn't plugged, then check out that fuel pump. Are your spark plugs wet with fuel (an indication of an ignition problem)? I'd verify that you're getting fuel before moving on to spark, timing, or other potential causes.
