Window washer fluid motor reinstall

My washer fluid wasn't spraying (one of the reasons I failed safety). The motor was jammed so removed the rivets, took apart the motor and now it's working fine. What's the trick to getting the motor back into the fluid bottle? There is a metal ring that has to go inside the bottle, the motor plastic bit slides in and the metal ring keeps it in place. Seems impossible to me. Here's a few pics.

You Need a long ring spanner that will just fit over the plastic motor body, Place the Retaining washer with a little gasket goo onto the ring spanner, Insert the washer pump into the fluid body then attach the washer over the pump body inside the bottle.
press the washer onto the pump body with a little jiggling you can force it on. Good Luck

just a heads up......You may want to test that pump before you go to the trouble of re-installation. I bought a bottle and pump second hand. That pump leaked internally. Tried as I might, I could not get it to seal and spin well. I gave up on it

I bought a Napa pump (that link above put me in the right direction but is not the pump I bought). It simply snaps into the hole without modification. I added a bead of silicone for good measure. I spliced the original Fiat connector to the 2 wires of the new pump. Works perfectly and was less than $20.

PM me for the part number of the pump I used, if interested. I am on the road so it will be about 3 days before I can provide you that info.

Ordered a new pump from autoricambi since I was getting another part there anyways and I can get 2 day delivery to NYC... where we're heading over the July 4th weekend anyways. The pump I fixed worked but was covered in silicone by the PO and I could just tell it would leak again!

Got the new washer motor. Seems shorter that the one that was there before and the lock washer doesn't seem as tight on it.



I'm thinking I'll probably need to get a better lock washer to hold it tight.

Ended up using epoxy to hold it in place. It's really tight and leak proof. If I ever end up replacing I'll use one of the bladder bags anyways.
