hazard switch wiring question

Forgive me as I'm not very good at the wiring part of this yet, so I'm asking what probably appear to be dumb, redundant questions. I'll start by saying that I've read posts on this for a couple days now and could not find my answer. I have the Artigue wiring diagrams, which are mostly hieroglyphics to me.
I am trying to install a lighter and a hazard switch where there was not one before, so nothing to copy. I have the lighter and the hazaard switch and a new (old) radio console to accommodate these.
I found a white connector that seems to be for the hazard as it lines up exactly with the rectangular hazard switch I have. My question is does anyone know where the violet and white wired shown exiting the bottom of the picture, is supposed to go?
Mine has been cut clean after about a foot.
If I can get this one piece of info, I can then move forward with the console.

Brad's schematics are the best. If you havent looked at them much, they can be intimidating. If you can locate the hazard switch on the schematic, you should see all the wires and are color marked. you just need to follow the wires to see where they end up. you know that one will come from the fuse box and that will be your power wire. Another will eventually end as a ground. It helps to print in out and follow each line with a highlighter. this helps staying on the proper wire.

According to the 78 wiring diagram on Brad Artigue's site (check page 3) the violet/white wire goes to the unswitched side of the courtesy light.

thanks guys. this is the first issue where I wish I had a local consultant-
in Michigan. Anybody? Mechanical stuff I can slowly figure out. Taking my time trying to digest this electrical stuff has done nothing for me.
Especially with regard to what the po did when he wired around this- a suspicious black ground tied into the middle of a purple wire, I need to have a competent person check this.
