My project for this year (and then some) is a 1974 Fiat 128. It has a 1500 cc motor, 4 speed, FWD !
My question, is there a ballast resistor somewhere in the ignition?
Starter engages alright, engine turns over but won't fire up.
The coil ohms out OK, has new plugs, wires, points and condensor.
I'm out of ideas
do you have spark?
do you have fuel?
is the motor in time, cam timing first, then ignition?
and yes it could have a resistor, usually fiat mounted them directly to the coil.
but the car will run without a resistor, it will just burn up the points sooner
are the points gapped correctly?

I wish I had some advice. I really can't help other than to say you shouldn't assume your ignition system is stock, since you are talking about a car with a completely different engine than stock. My point, then, is that I have no way of knowing what the previous owner did to your ignition when they swapped in that X1/9 (?) motor.
